Leket Israel, an Israeli grassroots organization, specializes in food rescue for the purpose of feeding Israel’s hungry.
The Hebrew word for glean is 'leket'. Many in Israel today suffer from poverty and hunger. Leket Israel, The National Food Bank, provides nutritious meals to those in need.
By distributing the surplus produce of the Land of Israel to Israel’s needy, Leket Israel strengthens the unbreakable connection between the Land and the People of Israel.
With the rebirth of the State of Israel 70 years ago, God’s promise of restoring the land has come to fruition;
“Again you shall plant vineyards on the hills of Shomron;
Men shall plant and live to enjoy them.” (Jeremiah 31:4)
“For there will never cease to be needy ones in your land,
which is why I command you: open your hand to the poor and needy kinsman in your land.” (Deuteronomy 15:11)
Israeli farmers plant physical seeds to nourish and feed the People of Israel. Leket plants and cultivates the seeds of hope for a brighter future in which no Israeli goes hungry.
